"Diaspora"

2025

A daughter grows to match the mass of her mother.

To grow a part and yet resemble the body in which you came from- this circle, this inevitability of the body, drives my work. The body that yearns to be separate and then yearns for the return, and yet will surpass the returning point, this intimate stretching and shrinking, the longing and discomfort in this vulnerability, speaks to the usage of wood, the usage of personal familiar figures conforming to the tree.

The wood’s physical inability to apologize, our bodies' inability to apologize, and a woman’s desperate need to apologize on its behalf are felt in the choices of the work.
